This week’s Publisher’s Desk is a reminder of the whens and whys of the deadlines for the Chronicle.

The weekly publication date of the Chronicle is Thursday and the newspaper is entered into the post office and hits the news-stands on Wednesday. The work to get the newspaper out each week is an ongoing process and deadlines are a necessity.

One thing to remember as you are planning to get information out about an upcoming event is that you need to get the information to the newspaper as early as possible. If it is something you can get to us a week in advance, that’s great, but if it arrives after the newspaper is printed, there is nothing that can be done. Planning ahead will help insure that your event, meeting or other happening is properly publicized.

All articles and pictures must be submitted to the office by Monday at 4 p.m. of the week you would like to have them in the newspaper. The deadline is the same for classified and display ads. Legal ads need to be in the office by 4 p.m. on the Friday prior to the week you need them to appear in the paper.

All submitted items must be signed and have a phone number of the person submitting the information.

These are not arbitrary deadlines that we just decided on, these are the times we need to have the information in the office in order to have the time we need to get the information prepared to go into the newspaper.

We do not guarantee that all submitted information will appear in that week’s edition of the Chronicle and we reserve the right to edit all submissions.

Emailing is the most effective way to submit most information, and you will have a record of it being sent. Information emailed to receives an automatic reply. You may also drop information off at our office at 353 Main St., Grantsville, fax it to 304-354-6917, or mail it to Calhoun Chronicle, P.O. Box 400, Grantsville, WV 26147.

No matter how you submit your information, always include your signature (name, if e-mailed) and phone number for verification or if we need to contact you for additional information..

Payments for all classified and display ads are required in advance, unless credit has been established.

If you have any questions about submitting information, how to place an ad, or anything else regarding the newspaper, call us Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 354-6917, or email
