Terry Harris and Maricia Mlynek of Calhoun Historical
Society were honored as Calhoun County “History Heroes” at the Culture
Center, Charleston, on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Their work with the local historical group has covered a
wide range of projects: painting walls and sanding doors at the Family
History Center, guides at Heritage Village, cataloging archival
materials, cleaning out Stump Hotel, making and selling kettle corn to
raise money, and planning numerous new activities to involve the
community in history education.
Certificates were awarded to 42 West Virginians by Dr.
Robert Conte, chairman of the Archives and History Commission, and
Randall Reid-Smith, commissioner of W.Va. Division of Culture and
History. Del. David Walker introduced the Heroes to the Legislature.
