Caylie Simmons, 19, of Franklin, was crowned the 2018 West Virginia Molasses Festival Queen on Sept. 8 at the Calhoun Middle/High School auditorium.
The queen’s coronation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2 p.m., at Ar-noldsburg Community Building. Everyone is invited to attend the presentation of the cere-monial key and symbolic gifts by the 2018 royalty. A small reception will follow after the cere-mony.
Simmons will reign over the 51st festival Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 27-29, with a theme of “Growing Our Future Through Traditions.” She will also represent the festival at the W.Va. Association of Fairs and Festivals in Charleston, Jan. 11-12.
Caylie is the daugh-ter of Mike and Robin Simmons, and is a sopho-more at West Virginia University majoring in dental hygiene.
