According to Workforce West Virginia, Calhoun was one of only five counties that saw its unemployment rate decrease in June (47 counties increased, three saw no change).
It still left the county with the third highest rate in the state.

The lowest rates were in Pendleton, 3.1 percent; Jefferson, 3.7; and Doddridge, 3.7.
The state average was 5.4 percent in June.

Charts showed that unemployment had increased from Jan. 2017 to Apr. 2018, 5.3% to 5.4% in West Virginia, while the U.S. average declined from 4.8% to 3.9%.
In other statistics, per capita personal income increased in West Virginia from $29,323 to $36,624 from 2007 to 2016.
Across the U.S., income over the same time period increased from $39,821 to $49,246.
