ARNOLD LEE SCHOOLCRAFT
Arnold Lee Schoolcraft, 78, of Sistersville, died Friday, Apr. 12, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Lonnie Schoolcraft and Margaret Jane Cogar Schoolcraft. He worked at Marble King and Precision, and was a member of Tyler Rod and Gun Club, Moose Lodge 931 and Bear Fork Hunting Club. He was a former Sistersville High School band chaperone.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Hartline Schoolcraft; one sister, Colleen Bray of Clinton, Ohio; three daughters, Marcia Toman of Paden City, Sharon Loken of Marietta, Ohio, and Deborah Sweeney of Sistersville; two sons, Roger Schoolcraft of Sistersville and Parnell Schoolcraft of New Martinsville; four grandchildren, Alison Zwick of Sistersville, Jessica Martin of Hopewell, Va., Amy Toman of Birmingham, Ala., and Nick Racer of New Martinsville; and three great-grandchildren, Parker Zwick, Dexter Zwick and Jade Schoolcraft.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Loiraine Dillion, Zee Blosser and Dorothy Yoak; one brother, Arlan Schoolcraft; and one granddaughter, Nicole Schoolcraft.
At Arnold’s request, his body was donated to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 4, 1 to 4 p.m., at Klug Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to WVU Human Gift Register or to Sistersville General Hospital Lab Dept.
HOWARD LAWRENCE KING
Howard Lawrence King, 69, of Warren, Ohio, died Wednesday, Apr. 10, 2019.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Lawrence B. King and Ernestine Gregory. He retired from Premier Manufacturing, Cleveland, Ohio, with over 30 years of service.
Surviving are his step-mother, Jean King of Glenville; one daughter, Sandra Molnar of Ohio; two sons, Howard King, Jr., and Michael King, both of Ohio; two sisters, Sue Helmick of Cleveland, Ohio, and Brenda Parker of Linn; three brothers, Rick King of Burnsville, Johnny King of Camden and Steve King of Glenville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Glenville, with Pastor Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial was in Hiney Cemetery, Linn.
VONNA RAE GOODRICH STUART
Vonna Rae Goodrich Stuart, 74, of Rosedale, died Tuesday, Apr. 16, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late Raymond Ray Goodrich and Ella Madge Mitchell Goodrich.
She had been blind since age 16 due to a car accident. She graduated from Romney School for the Deaf and Blind, and could read Braille and communicate through sign language. She worked several years as a switchboard operator in Charleston and as a concession stand operator at the state capitol in Charleston until she retired after her second car accident. She returned home to her family and friends in Gilmer County.
Surviving are one daughter, Teresa Ann Stuart; one grandson, Jerome Isaac Stuart; one great-grandson, Gavin Isaac Stuart; one brother, Verner Gene Goodrich of Rosedale; four sisters, Vae Bell Cayton of Vermillion, Ohio; Vivian Zoe Carr and Vada Lorraine Knicely, both of Rosedale, and Vera Gae Johnson of Wilsie; two nieces, Deanna Lynn Goodrich Miller and Verna Louise Goodrich Frederick; and one nephew, Ricky Lee Goodrich.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Van Dudley Goodrich; two nephews, Jamie Ray Knicely and Michael James Cayton; and one niece, Lisa Cayton.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home. Burial was in Rosedale Community Cemetery.
ETTA EVELYN RADABAUGH
Etta Evelyn Radabaugh, 72, of Big Springs, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Janie Cottrell Rogers.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph Radabaugh; one son, Albert Franklin Radabaugh of Nobe; one daughter, Marcia Putnam of Sutton; and one granddaughter, Amber Metheney of Sutton.
Burial was in Nobe Cemetery.
NOLAN PARSONS
Nolan C. Parsons, 91, of Belmont, died Friday, Apr. 19, 2019, at his residence.
He was born in Orma, the son of the late Theodore Abraham and Opal Beatrice Wears Parsons. He attended Calhoun County High School and was drafted into the Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and 50-year member of Painter and Paperhanger Local Union 1144.
Surviving are one daughter, Marjorie Parsons; one son, Richard “Pat” Parsons; five grandchildren, Brian Parsons, Keith Vannoy, Sarah Parsons, Scott Parsons and Ashley Kahan; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Glenola Woodyard and Pam Howard; two brothers, Dean Parsons and Randy Parsons; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Parsons; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lorena Kelly Parsons; one son, Dr. Nolan Parsons, Jr.; one sister, Margaret Mayfield; and two baby brothers.
Services were held at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with David Kelly officiating. Burial was in Pleasants Memorial Estates, with military rites.
