Roberta Jean “Jeannie” Tanner, 57, of Vienna, died Saturday, Apr. 7, 2018, at her home.
She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elva Vaughan. She was a 1979 graduate of Calhoun County High School and graduated cum laude from WVU-Parkersburg with an associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology. In 2008, she graduated cum laude from University of Cincinnati with a bachelor of science in clinical laboratory science. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital laboratory from 1982-2011. She started as a generalist and worked her way up to hematology/coagulation supervisor. In 2012, she became an adjunct professor and taught MLT classes at Washington State Community College. In 2015, she started as a medical technologist at the Belpre campus of Marietta Memorial Health System.
Surviving are three daughters, Melody, Hayley and Abby Tanner, all of Vienna; one brother, Mike Vaughan of Williamstown; two sisters, Caroline Charonko and Susan Myers, both of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Virgil Tanner, on Jan. 14, 2018, and one sister, Patricia Boyd.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Pastor Tim Davis officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
