HAROLD KEITH GIBSON
Harold Keith Gibson, 84, of Bristolville, Ohio, died Monday, Apr. 16, 2018, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
He was born in Cremo, the son of the late Cliff and Elah Kerby Gibson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked as an electrician on the blast furnaces at Republic Steel. In the 1960s, he raced stock cars.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Gwendolyn Mae Greathouse “Gwen” Gibson; three daughters, Arlene “Kay” Sloan and Joyce Sponseller, both of Bristolville, and Debra Barta of Leavittsburg, Ohio; three sons, Richard Gibson and Clint Gibson, both of Bristolville, and Eric Gibson of New Braunfels, Tex.; two brothers, Duane Gibson of Warren, Ohio, and Larry Gibson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 23 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Facemire and Patty Nevin, and one brother, Gerald Gibson.
Services were held at Champion Baptist Church, with Pastor Keith Easton officiating. Burial was in Sager Memorial Park, Bristolville.
LAURA BETHEL ‘Gurty’ WILSON THOMPSON
Laura Bethel “Gurty” Wilson Thompson, 78, of Arnoldsburg, died Thursday, Apr. 19, 2018, at her residence.
She was born in Clay County, the daughter of the late Pat and Violet Suttle Wilson. She was a former member of the Silver Haired Legislature, and worked closely with Gov. Wise and Gov. Rockefeller on senior health care issues. She was a former Head Start coordinator and a certified nursing assistant, and was a former restaurant owner and delivered the Charleston Gazette.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Wayne Jackson Thompson; two daughters, Patricia Runnion of Arnoldsburg and Vickie Knight of Mineral Wells; three brothers, Foster Wilson and Randy Wilson, both of Calhoun County, and Gary Wilson of Sutton; three sisters, Wanda Carpenter of Summersville, Loretta Moore of Covington, Va., and Linda Wilson of Calhoun County; 10 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Velva Hall, and two siblings, Aretta Wilson and Pat Wilson.
Services were held at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Pastor Jerry Sears officiating. Burial was in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin.
GLORIA GRAY SLIDER SHOCK
Gloria Gray Slider Shock, 80, of Millstone, died Sunday, Apr. 22, 2018, at Minnie Hamilton Health System.
She was born in Charleston, the daughter of the late Helma Thomas and Lova Ann Starcher Slider. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, William T. “Bill” Shock; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas “Tom” and Ellen Shock of Millstone; one daughter, Scarlett Hinton of Parkersburg; one brother, Lafawn Slider of Charleston; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle, and two sisters, Lola May and Deordre.
Graveside service was scheduled Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Mt. Zion Cemetery. There will be no visita- tion or service at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer.
ROGER DALE MEADOWS
Roger Dale Meadows, 73, of Annamoriah, formerly of Barberton/North Canton area in Ohio, died Friday, Apr. 20, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Parkersburg, the son of the late Oris D. and Sylvia B. Meadows. He was a 1963 graduate of Wirt County High School and retired after 30 years with B&W, Barberton.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary (Judy) Bell Meadows; three sons, Roger Dale Meadows, Jr., of Norton, Ohio, Kenneth D. Meadows of Annamoriah and Aaron J. Meadows of Barberton; one daughter, Belinda M. Scott of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Kitiara Edwards, Angel, Brian, Shane, Raven, Cheri Meadows, Nathan Scott, Veronica Coburn, Sophie and Bella Meadows, Tiffany Kirkpatric and Rob Johnson; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Meadows of Sarasota, Fla.; and three sisters, Pat Nida, Peggy Hacker and Maysel Miller of Creston.
Celebration of Life memorial will be held on Saturday, May 19, noon to 4 p.m., at Creston Community Building.
