LULU ELAINE SPROUSE MORRIS
Lulu Elaine Sprouse Morris, 82, of Cox’s Mills, formerly of Normantown, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at her residence on Gar-field Run Road.
She was born in Lockney, the daughter of the late Edgar Lytle and Hazel Grimes Sprouse. In 1959, she met her future husband, Roy Morris, Jr., while employed at a bakery in Belpre, Ohio. They married on June 11. After the birth of her youngest child, she enrolled at Glenville State College and earned a degree in teaching.
She taught at Spencer Elementary School for one year and at Sand Fork and Normantown elementary schools until her retirement in 1998. Elaine was a member of Dawson Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Frye and husband Tony of Cox’s Mills, Rhonda Roland and husband Jeff of Ranger, Ga., and Stephanie James and husband Doug of Roanoke; 15 grandchildren, Michelle Greenwood of Snellville, Ga., Ronald Lee Morris of Loganville, Ga., Melissa Ulysse of Lawrenceville, Ga., Heather Murphy and Haley Murphy, both of Calhoun, Ga., Kirk Murphy of New York, Dustin Murphy of Ball Ground, Ga., David Frye and Brandi Frye, both of Cox’s Mills, Rob James of Fairmont, Shirania James and Samantha Sevcik, both of Weston, and Alex, John and Kira James of Roanoke; 11 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alex and Jamie Greenwood, all of Snellville,, L.J., Jasmine and Miah, all of Lawrenceville, Rowen and Eden Murphy of Jasper, Ga.; Lula Kernea, and Wyatt Murphy of Calhoun and Laurel Murphy of Ball Ground; nine sisters and brothers, Janice Hendershot and Janette Ramezan, both of Sand Fork, Verle Sprouse, Stephen Sprouse, Kenneth Sprouse, Colin Sprouse and Corlis Stump, all of Normantown, Eileen Richardson of Spencer and Sharon Zirkle of Mabie; two sisters-in-law, Marty Morris and Shirley Morris, both of Marietta, Ohio; and numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by two children, Scott Edgar Morris and Ronald Lee Morris; three brothers, Delmas Sprouse, Roger Sprouse and infant Calvin Leon Sprouse; and two sisters, Betty Jenkins and Arlene Carol Sprouse.
Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Glen-ville, with Elder Richard Westfall and Elder Mike Richardson officiating. Burial was in Turner Cemetery, near Lockney.
TEDDY GROGGS
Teddy Groggs, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at home.
He was born at Chloe, the son of the late Gertrude and Ora Groggs, and was the youngest of 10 children, with his mother passing in childbirth delivering the 11th child. Ora raised all 10 of the children on a farm in Calhoun County, before marrying Vola Ward and having two more children. Teddy left home at 15 and provided for himself doing odd jobs for room and board in Buckhannon, where, at 18, he met Charlotte Myers. After four years of dating and chasing after her to California, they were married in Las Vegas in 1964, and were together for 54 years until his death.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; one son, Eddie Groggs of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one daughter, Shelley Lahtonen of Tallmadge, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Julie Shenise, Jacob Lahtonen and Sarah, Matthew, Susan, Michael and Nathan Groggs; and one great-granddaughter, Lillie Ann, five weeks old; two sisters, Norma Nicholas of Spencer and Loretta Gray of Elyria, Ohio; and two brothers, Bill and Mike of Buckhannon. He had a special connection to Susan, who was his personal companion, snapchat photographer and traveling buddy for the length of his illness.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Paul, Frank and Bud, and three sisters, Sue, Jean and Lottie.
Services will be held Thursday, 12:30 p.m., at Redmon Funeral Home, Stow, Ohio. Burial will be in Silver Springs Cemetery.

JACKIE LEE WALKER
Jackie Lee Walker, 73, of Big Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Olga and Russell Ferrell and the late Carl Walker. He was a dozer operator and attended Full Gospel Light Church, Munday.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Janet Walker; three sons, Jackie and Brenda Walker of Big Bend, Joseph and Martha Walker of Mineral Wells and Jason and Lisa Walker of Big Springs; one brother, Ronnie Walker of Munday; three sisters, Janis Kelly of Sistersville, Norma Queen of St. Marys and Naomi Toler of Big Bend; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Walker and Harold Walker; one sister, Betty Holbert; and one grandson.
Services were held at Five Forks Community Church, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
DYLAN COLE GROSE
Dylan Cole Grose, 19, of Big Otter, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, due to a car accident.
He was the son of Shella Cross and Jim Sears of Big Otter and Jason and Racheal Grose of Looneyville. He was a graduate of Clay County High School and was employed by Blue Flame Pipeline. He attended Nebo Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his siblings, Gracyn and Lawson Grose and Taylor “Tyler” Sears of Big Otter; brother by choice, Drew Belt of Nebo; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Mary Cross of Chloe; and paternal grandparents, Troy and Hazel Grose of Gassaway and Jeff Rider of Clay.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Okey and Locie Morris and Jeff and Hilda Moore; paternal great-grandparents, Woodrow and Lula Cutlip; and paternal grandmother, Dottie Rider.
