RONALD BAILEY
Ronald L. Bailey, 80, of Brewster, Ohio, died at Mercy Hospital, on Saturday, Apr. 21, 2018.
He was born at Minnora, the son of the late Holly and Mabyn Bailey. He was a 1955 graduate of Calhoun County High School and was retired from Superior Meats.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Karen Toothman Bailey, whom he married on Apr. 2, 1964; two daughters, Machelle Maxwell and Kimberly Bailey; five grandchildren, Bambi Ewing, Cecelia McIntyre, Brandon Bailey, Monique Bailey and Kaley Childs; one sister, Norma Cline; one nephew, Ronald Cline; and one sister-in-law, Sandra Bailey.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace “Ray” Bailey, and one sister, Wanda “Lou” Boggs.
Celebration of his life was held at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Davenport officiating.
CONSTANCE CARTER KNEPP
Constance R. Carter Knepp, 80, of Streetsboro, Ohio, died Friday, Mar. 9, 2018, at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
She was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Glennis Carter and was a 1955 graduate of Calhoun County High School. She was an employee of L’Oreal until retiring in 2002.
Surviving are one daughter, Christie Knepp-Driscoll; one sister, Norma Perry; two grandchildren, Chance and Carter Driscoll; four nieces, Janet Hodson, Debbie King, Karen Cavanaugh and Jill Montgomery; and three nephews, Steve Perry, Ron Perry and Derek Perry.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Nella Champion, and one niece, Lisa Little.
Celebration of life service was held at Greentree Community Center, Streetsboro.
LARRY REX JOHNSON
Larry Rex Johnson, 70, of Grantsville, and Cedar Grove Assisted Care Living, Parkersburg, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of Violet Pearle Cross Johnson and the late Emmett Willard Johnson. Rex was a 1966 graduate of Calhoun County High School and was the owner of E&R Tire, Grantsville.
Surviving in addition to his mother are one brother, James A. Johnson of Grantsville; one sister-in-law, Robyn Johnson of Grantsville; and several nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George E. Johnson, and an infant, John Roy Johnson.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Ron Chesser officiating.
DENVER NICHOLAS
Denver Nicholas, 89, died Thursday, June 21, 2018.
He was born on Bear Run Road, Orma, the son of the late Simon and Emma Nicholas. He was delivered by his grandmother, Eda Jane Cottrell. His mother taught him to read from the Bible and he learned arithmetic from working timber. He spent 18 years working in the oilfield for Gerald Jones and the Stonestreet Family. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Surveying are his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Nicholas of Orma, Dale and Mary Nicholas of Woodstock, Ala., and Patrick and Beth Nicholas of Arnoldsburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Luke McCumbers, Emma and Jerry Howell and Melissa and Tracy West, all of Orma; sons-in-law, Howard Carpenter and Bobby Stout; grandchildren, Allen and Michele Nicholas, Dean and Jennie Nicholas, Travis and Twila Nicholas, Sean and Christopher Carpenter, Patricia and Robert Wagner, Jordan and Brittany Delaney, Kirstie, Denver and Timothy Nicholas, Lucas and Natasha McCumbers, Carol and Tim Short, and Dalton Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Justin, Evan and Mason Nicholas, Jarrett and Alex Nicholas, Abby, Anna, Haley and Kaley Nicholas, Ashley Sampson and Brooke Carpenter and their mom Marla King Carpenter, Logan and Savanna Carpenter, Zachary Stout, Victoria and Paige West, and Lillian and Zander McCumbers; step-grandson, Zach West; step-great-granddaughter, Chevelle West; sister, Ermal Jean and Hoyt Rogers of Ballground, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Taylor, Ernest Nicholas, Macel Monroe, Murl Nash, Maxine Wilson and infant Delma Nicholas; his first wife, Nita June Nicholas; his second wife, Missouria Kay Nicholas; and daughters, Wanda Carpenter and Joyce Stout; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Orma, with Clarence Rose officiating. Burial will be held in Nicholas Family Cemetery, Bear Run Road, Orma. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, and Thursday, noon to 1 p.m., at the church.
LENNA CLEO CARPENTER
Lenna Cleo Carpenter, 79, of Looneyville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Commodore and Eulah Eugene Tanner Carpenter. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his companion of 38 years, Lora O’Dell of Looneyville; two half-brothers, Timmy Carpenter and Danny Carpenter, both of Calhoun County; and special friends, Leonard Eugene and Opal Lea O’Dell.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David Michael Carpenter, and one sister, Evelyn Husk.
Services were held at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. David C. Young officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.
IVA MARIE SINNETT
Iva Marie Sinnett, 81, of Harrisville, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at her residence.
She was born in Lincoln District, Tyler County, the daughter of the late Irvin Edward and Leona May Steed Richmond. She worked 32 years at Pine View Continuous Care.
Surviving are one brother, Samuel A. Richmond of Smithville; one sister, Carolyn J. Cottrill of Pennsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl F. Sinnett; three brothers, Paul Richmond, Harold Richmond and Joe Richmond; and two sisters, Patricia McGuire and Julie Ramsey.
Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev.
Mike Hardbarger officiating. Burial was in Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.
PHYLLIS CAROL RICHARDS
Phyllis Carol Richards, 70, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Willie and Ruth Cogar. She was a homemaker for much of her life. She also spent 13 years using her sewing skills at RPR Industries.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, William Henry Richards; two daughters, Becky Edwards and Kelly Ubbens; three grandchildren, Jacob Edwards, Lakyn Edwards and Ansley Ubbens; and one great-grandchild, Grace Edwards.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Cogar, and three sisters, Violet Parsons, AnnaMae Parsons and Dorothy Jean Burrows.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Hunt Cemetery.
