According to a news release, a group of Calhoun citizens has formed a political action committee (PAC) and are working to inform voters regarding the upcoming educational levy.

Richard Westfall is serving as chairman for “Friends of Calhoun County Schools.” The group welcomes anyone interested in becoming involved.

The group plans to hold two more public meetings before the election on Tuesday, Nov. 6, with dates and locations as follows:

–Tuesday, Oct. 2, 5:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, Minnora.
–Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5:30 p.m., at Brooksville Baptist Church Family Life Center.

The meetings are open to the public. The PAC invites anyone with questions, wishing to become involved, or wanting to learn more about the levy proposal to attend.

Friends of Calhoun County Schools will be available at the Molasses Festival to answer questions.

Individuals from the PAC will be available at each of the schools during parent/teacher conference nights in October.

According to the news release, the levy is to benefit students by returning fifth graders to the elementary schools, providing free admittance to regular season sporting events for all, and fund educational and cultural field trips, classroom supplies and maintenance on schools.
