The weather outside was a bit frightful, but the day was still delightful at the 2nd annual Christmas in the Village.

Left to right, Mindy Kristoff, Erin Barnhart and Lacy Hicks welcomed visitors to Stemple Cabin during the 2nd annual Christmas in the Village on Saturday. A craft was demonstrated and the cabin also won the People’s Choice Award.

Even though the rain showers tried to dampen holiday spirits, visitors still made their way through the maze, families went on a scavenger hunt seeking the three wise men, and the Jingle Bell Jig was danced on the hour, as people strolled from one decorated buil-ding to another.

Christmas carols drifted from the chapel, the smell of kettle corn filled the air, and Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted everyone at Santa’s sleigh.

The event ended with a beautiful tree lighting ceremony that focused on the importance of seeking the Savior during the Christmas season.

Calhoun Historical Society would like to thank everyone who came out to support Christmas in the Village, and com-mend all the workers and volunteers for their dedication and hard work.

David Gerlach and daughter Rylie of Gerlach Rustic Wood Designs were among the vendors at Christmas in the Village on Saturday. David has an extensive inventory of artwork and offers made-to-order items.

Stemple Cabin won the People’s Choice Award, and I must agree that it was beautifully decorated.

If you would like a second chance to see the village, we will be offering an opportunity for visitors to tour the decorated buildings for a small fee on Saturday, Dec. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.

Jarvis Store will also be open and selling Calhoun County items and sweet treats. Don’t miss this opportunity to kick off the holiday season at Heritage Village in Calhoun County Park.
