DORMAL JEAN JARVIS DOBBINS EWING
Dormal Jean Jarvis Dobbins Ewing, 80, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. at Miletree Center, Spencer.
She was born at Orma, the daughter of the late Tollie and Mary Jarvis. She was a home-maker.
Surviving are her children, Terry and Jeanette Dobbins and Rodney and Deborah Dobbins, all of Wilson, N.C., Deborah and Alvin Parsons of Arnoldsburg, Jeffery Dobbins and Cammie Tallman and Steve Dobbins, all of Orma, and Mitchell And Robin Dobbins of Mt Zion; two brothers, Eddie Jarvis of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Fred Jarvis of Millstone; one sister, Evelyn Etling of Barberton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Arnold Dobbins, Jr., and her husband, Thomas W. Ewing; three daughters, Angela Kay Dobbins, Katherine Elizabeth Dobbins and Sherry Ann Nichols; one grandson, Christopher Alvin Parsons; two brothers, Donald Jarvis and Virgil Jarvis; and three sisters, Flossie Louise Jarvis, Marie Vanhorn and Geneva McKee.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Burial was in Minnora Cemetery.
GENEVA LEA STURM
Geneva Lea Sturm, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Cousby Stutler and Ela Gibson. She attended Calhoun County High School and worked at Calhoun General Hospital. She was active in establishing Victory Baptist Church. She stayed active with the church until moving to live with her daughter in Las Vegas, Nev., and then Bakersfield, Calif.
Surviving are one sister, Doris Ellyson; one daughter, Rebecca Engelke; two grandchildren, Jason Butt and Erika Delamar; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea Butt, Kaitlyn Butt, Shane Butt, Kristyn Delamar and Taylen Butt; and one great-great-granddaughter, Tinsleigh Rice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Sturm, and five aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Victory Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, noon to 1 p.m., at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com.
JERRY OWEN FRYMIER
Jerry Owen Frymier, 78, of Tanner, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Glenville Center.
He was born in Tanner, the son of the late Eustace and Ploma Grogg Frymier.
Surviving are one brother and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Graveside service and burial will be held Thursday in Mt. Liberty Cemetery, with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating, following visitation at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
LENNIE EARL HARTSHORN, SR.
Lennie Earl Hartshorn, Sr., 85, of Bolt, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Everett and Josie Sturm Hartshorn. He was employed by Hope Gas and retired from Dominion Gas in 1992.
Surviving are his children, Pamela Daniel, Melody Worrells, Lennie Hartshorn, Jr., April Prunty and Everett Hartshorn; former daughter-in-law, Ramona Hartshorn; nine grandchildren, Denise Worley, Shannon Daniel, Megan Marohl, Mendy Helvey, Kevin Worrells, Staci Stover, Lennie Hartshorn III, Josie Hartshorn and Emma Hartshorn; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Donna Jean Hartshorn, on Apr. 15, 1992; two sisters, Elah Mae Roberts and an infant Ellieve; four brothers, Dayton Hartshorn, Boyd Hartshorn, Glen Hartshorn and Ernest Hartshorn; and one granddaughter, Heather Hartshorn.
Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Melton Mortuary Chapel, 1200 Harper Road, Beckley, with Rev. Garry Hall officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Visitation will be Friday, noon to 2 p.m., at the mortuary chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, P.O. Box 1492, Beckley, WV 25802.
